After graduation from Alhambra High, I went to Whittier College and graduated in 1962 with an English major. While at Whittier, I met Janice Lee Barker, whom I married in 1962. (We recently celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary.) Also in 1962 I began graduate school at USC, receiving an MA in 1964 and a PhD in English in 1973. I began full-time teaching at Whittier College in 1965 and will retire in June 2009 after 44 years of service. I am the Albert Upton Professor of English. We have two children, Tom and Anne. Both children are married, and Anne and her husband had their daughter, Juliet, one year ago. I am looking forward to seeing my classmates.
